Tree Stand Dreaming
Hunting season is right around the corner and preparation is under way. This of course includes shooing bows, sighting in rifles, prepping gear, and a laundry list of other items. To me, it also includes utilizing & checking trail cameras. I have used trail cameras since I was about 16 years old. I have enjoyed having them and mainly used them to see what deer are in an area. For many years, this required physically going to “check” the camera to see what pictures it took.
In recent years, I have picked up a couple of cell cameras. These have been awesome, especially considering cameras I have set up at camp are a couple of hours away. Cell cameras also provide instant gratification. Each time I get a text with a picture of a deer it has me day dreaming of days in the field to come. We have a couple of nice mature “shooters” on camera, and I am eager to get after them.
I have never been one to hunt much in the early season, and with a little boy due any day I don’t envision that changing this year. I’ll be eagerly watching for those text messages in anticipation of hitting the big woods. With the season a week away, we’ll be out there before we know it. Good luck to all this fall!
